Apple introduced the Golden Gate wallpaper with macOS 27 at WWDC 2026, giving the Mac a fresh desktop background that matches the new design language across Apple’s 2026 operating systems. You do not need to install the macOS 27 beta to use it. We have made the full-resolution wallpapers available below so you can use them on any Mac today.
This guide explains what the new macOS 27 Golden Gate wallpaper looks like, where to download it, and how to set it as your desktop background. The collection includes both Light and Dark variants in full resolution.

Apple has unified its wallpaper design across macOS 27, iPadOS 27, and iOS 27 this year. The macOS 27 Golden Gate wallpaper shares the same layered abstract artwork as the iOS 27 Celosia and iPadOS 27 wallpapers, using curved shapes that form a stylized “27.” While each operating system has its own layout, they all follow the same visual theme.
Designed for the Mac’s widescreen display, the wallpaper features sweeping curves, soft gradients, and subtle shadows that create a layered appearance. The Light version blends warm gold, beige, and soft gray tones, while the Dark version transitions into deep blue and indigo hues for a more dramatic desktop.
