Apple has given Siri its biggest upgrade since the voice assistant debuted in 2011. With Siri AI in iOS 27, Siri is no longer limited to answering simple questions or carrying out one command at a time. It can now understand context, search your personal information, work across multiple apps, and even continue conversations through its own dedicated app.

Understand Natural Conversations
One of the biggest improvements is Siri’s ability to understand natural language. Instead of relying on specific keywords or exact phrasing, Siri AI can interpret what you’re asking even if you change your wording or speak more conversationally.
It also understands follow-up questions without requiring you to repeat the entire request. Rather than treating every interaction as a brand-new command, Siri maintains the context of the conversation, making interactions feel much more natural.
Understand What’s on Your Screen
Siri AI can now understand what’s currently displayed on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac.
If you’re looking at a webpage, an address, a photo, or another supported item, Siri can answer questions about it or perform related actions without you needing to copy and paste information between apps. This screen awareness removes several manual steps from everyday tasks and makes Siri much more useful throughout the system.
Search Your Personal Information
With your permission, Siri AI can search information stored across supported Apple apps, including Mail, Messages, Notes, Calendar, Photos, and Files.
Whether you’re trying to find a PDF someone emailed months ago, remember where a dinner reservation was shared, or locate a specific photo, Siri can search your personal content and surface relevant results far more intelligently than the previous version.
Perform Actions Across Multiple Apps
Perhaps the most significant upgrade is Siri’s ability to work across multiple apps in a single request.
Instead of simply opening an app or setting a reminder, Siri can retrieve information from one app and use it in another. Apple has expanded App Intents throughout iOS 27, allowing Siri to automate workflows that previously required several manual steps.
Continue Conversations in the Siri App
Siri now has its own dedicated app designed for ongoing conversations.
You can revisit previous chats, pin important conversations, and continue discussions without starting over each time. Your conversation history also syncs through iCloud, allowing you to seamlessly continue chatting on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac.
Help You Write and Refine Text
iOS 27 introduces Write with Siri, giving the assistant a range of writing capabilities directly within supported apps.
Siri can help draft text, rewrite paragraphs, summarize content, proofread documents, or adjust the tone of your writing. Whether you’re replying to an email or polishing a document, many common writing tasks can now be completed without switching to another app.
Use Visual Intelligence
Visual Intelligence is now integrated directly into the Camera app, giving Siri a new way to understand the world around you.
Simply point your camera at a sign, menu, document, object, or product, and Siri can answer questions, identify information, summarize text, or help you take action based on what it sees. Apple has also expanded Visual Intelligence with features like nutrition insights for meals and bill splitting.
Hand Complex Requests to ChatGPT
Some requests require more advanced reasoning than Siri can provide on its own.
For those situations, Siri can ask for your permission to hand the request over to ChatGPT. The transition happens without requiring you to switch apps or repeat your prompt, and no information is shared unless you explicitly approve the request.

Sound More Natural
Apple has also refined Siri’s voice experience in iOS 27.
Recent beta releases introduced additional voice options on supported devices, along with controls for pace and expressiveness. While these changes don’t affect what Siri can do, they make conversations sound more natural and less robotic during longer interactions.
