Apple Invites has been updated to version 1.12.0 with three changes. Shared albums now support full-resolution photo sharing, Image Playground can create photorealistic invite backgrounds, and guests who need to verify their email can tap a link instead of typing a code.
Apple launched the Invites app in February 2025 for organizing birthday parties, baby showers, and similar events. Creating an event requires an iCloud+ plan with at least 50GB of storage, which starts at $0.99 per month. Anyone who receives an event link can RSVP for free on any device.
The app has been updated regularly since launch. Version 1.10 in July added emoji reactions and confetti animations. Apple’s release notes on the App Store for version 1.12.0 cover the following changes.

Guests Get Full-Resolution Shared Albums and a Faster Email Check
Shared albums let everyone at an event add photos to one collection after the party. With version 1.12.0, those albums handle full-resolution photos, so guests can view and share pictures in full detail right in the app.
Apple says anyone can join and contribute to an album, including people who don’t use an Apple device. That matches how RSVPs already work, since guests don’t need an iPhone or an iCloud+ subscription to respond to an invitation.
Guests who need to verify their email now tap a link in their inbox instead of typing in a code, which removes one step between opening an invitation and getting into the event.
Image Playground Now Makes Photorealistic Invite Backgrounds
Image Playground is Apple’s image generation feature, which first shipped with iOS 18.2. Inside Apple Invites, it now builds backgrounds in pretty much any style, and photorealistic is one of them. Apple says the goal is to let a host capture exactly the vibe they have in mind.
Image Playground works from a text description, so a host can ask for something like a rooftop at sunset and choose a photorealistic look. The feature is also built into other Apple apps, including Final Cut Pro on Mac and iPad.
