Renowned tech analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo reports that AirPods Pro 2 will launch in 2022. In his new investor’s note, he also estimated that the Bluetooth EarPods demand has shrunk in 2021 which is likely to boost next year with the launch of the next-generation AirPod Pro model.
Apple is expected to launch a new low-cost AirPods later this year. The new wireless headphones will come in a redesigned case and its earbuds will have AirPods Pro-like shorter stems. But to keep the headphones cost-efficient, the company will not offer the active noise cancellation feature in the new AirPods. Industry sources claim that Cupertino tech giant’s suppliers have begun procurement of components for the upcoming iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods launch in the second half of 2021.
New AirPods Pro 2 is likely to improve Bluetooth headphones sales in 2022
Kuo’s note obtained by MacRumors stated that AirPods sales have plummeted this year and the launch of new headphones is likely to salvage its sales.
Kuo says that demand for AirPods is thought to be “lower-than-expected” for the remainder of this year, revising his forecast to 70-75 million, compared to 75-85 million. According to Kuo, the release of the second-generation AirPods Pro next year will boost shipments to more than 100 million.
This sales estimation is corroborated by the Nikkie Asia report which claimed that Apple cut AirPod production by 25% to 30% because of low sales. It was detailed that Samsung’s and Xiaomi’s low to mid-range wireless earphones impacted AirPods sales. Maybe, an upgraded Pro model of the wireless headphones will help the company regain market share.
Bloomberg detailed that the alleged AirPods Pro will have an in-the-ear design without the small stems to house directional mics. It will ship with an advanced motion sensor with a “focus on fitness tracking”.
