Apple launches AirPods Pro Year of the Ox limited edition for Chinese New Year

In celebration of the Chinese New Year, Apple has launched AirPods Pro Year of the Ox limited edition. An adorable ox is engraved on the case of the wireless earbuds and the same Ox icon is printed in red on the limited edition AirPods Pro box.

As per the traditional lunar calendar, Chinese New Year will be held on Friday, February 12, and 2021 is the year of the Ox. Associated with myths and customs, the festival is a time for the Chinese to honor deities and ancestors by getting together for family dinners and giving gifts in red envelopes and packets. Gifts received or given Red wrappings are believed to bring luck in the new year. Therefore, the AirPods Pro Year of the Ox limited edition box has a red icon. In addition, the company has also launched a special Chinese New year gift guide on China online store.

The limited-edition AirPods Pro Year of the Ox set is retailing for RMB 1,999 can be bought for family and friends from Apple physical and online stores. It is not unusual for Apple to change the theme or launch limited-edition merchandise for various religious, cultural, national, and other festivals. The announcement was made on WeChat with the caption,

“Here comes a box of blessings for the Year of the Ox, a limited edition.”

The new design of the Chinese New Year gift guide is the same as the Holidays gift guide but with prominent red text and background. In addition to AirPods Pro Year of the Ox limited edition, customers can get personalized Ox and other icons engraved on their AirPods, AirPods Pro, and iPad models. Apple Music subscribers can also enjoy the new playlists curated for Chinese New Year in the region.

AirPods Pro is powered by an H1 chip and offer active noise cancellation, Transparency Mode, good sound quality. The earbuds are shipped with AirPods Pro, wireless charging case, silicone earplugs, and Lightning to USB-C cable. Siting environmental concerns, Apple no longer ships power adaptor in the box of some products.
