Apple Music student plan price increased slightly in many countries

Apple Music student plan is available for college students for a discounted price in several countries. Now, Apple has very slightly increased the subscription price of the Apple Music student plan from $1.49 to $1.99 in select countries.

Available on iOS and Android, Apple Music offers a growing library of songs including DJ mixes, podcasts, interviews, radio stations, and more for $9.99 per month with Spatial audio and Hi-Fi lossless audio support. But Apple Music student plan is available for $4.99 per month and in Apple One Bundle for an even lower price with other services.

Recently, Apple Music launched a new Essentials Anniversaries section to celebrate major milestones of leading artists like Ed Sheeran, Justin Timberlake, Kendrick Lamar, and P!nk. The new addition is an expansion of the existing “Essentials playlist” which offers curated albums of various artists compiled by Apple Music editors to showcase an artist’s best work. The Essentials Anniversaries section is a dedicated section that houses those curated albums.

In an email sent to student subscribers, Apple Music states that an increased subscription price will be charged from June 20. And luckily, with the new auto-subscription increased price feature, those users who wish to continue with the service will not have to do anything, the new amount will be detected automatically every month.

“Thank you for subscribing to ‌Apple Music‌. We wanted to let you know about an upcoming change to this subscription.

Apple is raising the price of this subscription from USD 1.49 per month to USD 1.99 per month. Your subscription will automatically renew for USD 1.99 per month start on 20 June unless you cancel at lease one day before.”

According to MacRumors, the price increase is for student subscribers in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Kenya, India, Indonesia, Singapore, Phillippines, Saudi Arabia, and Israel.

In addition to the Apple Music student plan, the tech giant also offers a cheaper Apple Music Voice plan for $4.99 powered by Siri. However, the service is only compatible with Siri-enabled devices which allows users to request their songs or podcasts.
