Apple Teases an Exciting Week After the New iPad Mini

Apple’s marketing chief Greg Joswiak says an exciting week is ahead, and the new iPad mini is only the opener. He teased it right after Apple announced the OLED iPad mini on Monday.

Joswiak posted on X that the week starts with the all-new iPad mini. He called it thinner and lighter than ever, pointed to the OLED display, water and dust resistance, better audio and the A20 Pro chip, and said it is the biggest update the iPad mini has ever received. He did not name another product.

The New iPad Mini Opens a Week That Builds to Wednesday

The iPad mini starts at $699 in the US. It has an 8.5-inch OLED display in a 5.4 mm body with an IP67 rating, and A20 Pro is built on a 2-nanometer process. Apple claims up to 4.5x faster AI performance than the previous generation.

The Wi-Fi + Cellular model starts at $849, and both versions come in midnight and starlight with 128GB, 256GB and 512GB configurations. iPadOS 27 comes preinstalled with Siri AI, which Apple is rolling out in beta.

Pre-orders open Wednesday, October 28, and the iPad mini starts arriving on Friday, November 6. That puts the iPad mini pre-orders on the same day as Apple’s launch experience in Los Angeles. The new TechWoven Smart Folio, which costs $79, goes up for pre-order alongside it.

Pro and Tell on Wednesday Is Where the Mac Announcements Are Expected

Apple is holding its Pro and Tell launch experience on Wednesday at 10 a.m. Pacific Time in Los Angeles. Tech reporters and content creators are expected to get hands-on time with the new devices. Joswiak also shared the invite artwork on X earlier this month.

Apple has not named any products, but Mark Gurman’s reporting and earlier leaks put three on the list.

  • An iMac with an M6 chip
  • A 14-inch MacBook Pro with an M6 chip
  • MacBook Pro models with touch-enabled OLED displays

The touchscreen MacBook Pro is the headline product. It is reportedly coming in 14-inch and 16-inch sizes with an OLED display and a Dynamic Island, and it would be the first Mac with touch. macOS Golden Gate 27.2 already includes touch gestures, which fits the timing.

October’s Launch Run Stretches Into Mid-November

Apple started the run on October 13 with Apple HomeView, a new Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini 2. The iPhone Duo reached Apple Store locations on October 23, and HomePod mini 2 ships on October 30.

Gurman says the touchscreen MacBook Pro could go on sale Friday, November 6, based on a floor reset planned at Apple Stores the evening before. That is the same day the iPad mini starts arriving, though Apple has not confirmed a date for the Mac.

Apple HomeView and the new Apple TV 4K arrive on November 13.
