New Apple TV 4K announced with A12 Bionic CPU, support for Dolby Vision video, and automatic color balancing

Apple has just announced the next generation of Apple TV 4K, with the A12 Bionic CPU, a new Siri remote that will work as a universal remote to control all of your devices, and automatic color balancing via iPhone.

The sixth-gen model retains the name of the prior 4k model but comes with powerful internals that allows users to HDR video at higher frame rates. The product can also support 60FPS Dolby Vision playback over AirPlay from a compatible iPhone.

And of course, Apple TV 4K offers easy access to Apple services, along with thousands of apps on the App Store for even more entertainment options.”

Apple TV 4K will include support for Dolby Vision and HDR high frame rate, this couple with the A12 Bionic chip means that the new Apple TV will be able to run all games from Apple Arcade while offering excellent performance. Additionally, videos taken on the iPhone 12 Pro can be viewed in full 4K resolution on the new Apple TV 4K.

The new Apple TV also comes with a feature called Color Balance which will allow iPhone 12 owners to automatically adjust the color and resolution settings on their Apple TV 4K using the light sensor on their iPhone to compare the TV settings to industry standards. Using the camera and proximity sensor, the iPhone is used to automatically adjust its output.

Pre-orders will be available on April 30 and the product will launch in the second half of May. Here are the prices of the two available variants.

  • Apple TV 4K with 64GB of storage: $199
