Apple TV app will stream live Major League Soccer matches, starting from 2023

Apple has announced its partnership with Major League Soccer (MLS) to stream every single live match on the Apple TV app starting from 2023. The tech company’s first major deal with a professional sports league paves the way for thousands of sports fans from around the world to watch all MLS, Leagues Cup,1 and select MLS NEXT and MLS NEXT Pro matches, for the next 10 years, in one place.

Apple TV app allows users to watch TC on smart TV sets, gaming consoles, and streaming devices. It offers all the original shows and movies from Apple TV+, along with premium channels including third-party streaming services and cable TV providers so users to buy or rent thousands of movies, shows, and other content. And now it will also be home for MLS live matches. Don Garber, MLS’s commissioner said:

“Apple is the perfect partner to further accelerate the growth of MLS and deepen the connection between our clubs and their fans. Given Apple’s ability to create a best-in-class user experience and to reach fans everywhere, it’ll be incredibly easy to enjoy MLS matches anywhere, whether you’re a super fan or casual viewer.”

Every live MSL match will be available to subscribers from early 2023 through 2032 via the Apple TV app

MSL fans will be able to subscribe to watch live matches on the Apple TV app, from early 2023 through 2032. The calling of action of all matches of MLS and Leagues Cup will be announced in English and Spanish and all matches of Canadian teams will be announced in French.

But the fun does not end there, subscribes will get other exclusive content like:

  • New weekly live match whip-around show so that they do not miss game replays, highlights, analysis, and more.
  • In-depth, behind-the-scenes views of players and clubs.
  • For Apple TV+ subscribers, a wide range of MLS and Leagues Cup matches will be available for no additional cost and a limited number of matches will be available for free.
  • Last but not the least, the subscription to the new MLS streaming service will be part of the MSL full season ticket package.

As per the announcement, details related to the cost of MLS live subscription, new programming, match schedule, broadcast teams and more will be shared in the coming months.

This partnership is another big addition to Apple streaming services in the sports segment. Previously, the company signed a deal with Major League Baseball (MLB) to stream “Friday Night Baseball” doubleheader games season on Apple TV+.
