New Apple TV 4K Has 8GB of RAM and the OLED iPad Mini Has 12GB

The new Apple TV 4K has 8GB of RAM and the OLED iPad mini has 12GB, based on device data in Xcode 27.2. Apple does not publish memory for either device.

Apple released Xcode 27.2 on October 29, and MacRumors found the amounts in it. The same data shows 12GB for iPhone Duo, which has the same A20 Pro chip as the iPad mini.

Apple TV 4K RAM doubles to 8GB with the A19

The 2022 Apple TV 4K has an A15 Bionic and 4GB of RAM, so the new model doubles its memory. Code found in September allowed for 8GB or 12GB and for an A19 or an A19 Pro, and the shipping model has the A19 and the lower memory figure.

Apple says the A19 gives up to 50 percent faster CPU performance than the previous generation. The new model also has Wi-Fi 7, Gigabit Ethernet, HDMI 2.1 and Thread, and it comes with the 4th generation Siri Remote, which charges over USB-C.

Siri AI arrives in beta with tvOS 27.2 and also works on the Apple TV 4K (2nd generation) and later, so owners of older models get it too. It needs an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad belonging to the owner of the home.

The OLED iPad mini has 12GB, the same as iPhone Duo

The A20 Pro comes in all three iPad mini storage sizes, with a 5-core CPU on the 128GB and 256GB models and a 6-core CPU on the 512GB model. The 8.5-inch OLED display runs at 2316 by 1512 pixels, and the body has IP67 water resistance and weighs 0.56 pound for the Wi-Fi model.

The iPad mini starts at $699 for 128GB with Wi-Fi, which is $200 above what the A17 Pro model cost at launch. The 256GB model costs $799 and the 512GB model costs $999, while Wi-Fi + Cellular models start at $849. Every model ships on November 6.

Memory costs sit behind this year’s price increases

Tim Cook called increases unavoidable on June 17, citing memory and storage chip costs. Apple has since raised prices across its lineup, including iPhone, iPad, Mac, HomePod and Apple TV 4K.

The previous Apple TV 4K rose in June to $199 for the Wi-Fi model and $249 for Wi-Fi + Ethernet, up from $129 and $149. The new model is priced at $299 and arrives on November 13.
