A movie about Theranos starring Jennifer Lawrence titled ‘Bad Blood’ is coming to Apple TV+

As reported by Deadline, Apple Original Films and Legendary Entertainment studios are co-producing the film, directed by Adam McKay and starring Jennifer Lawrence as Holmes. The report notes that the timing for the project is perfect with Holmes in the middle of a trial relating to Theranos.

The Apple landing has been months in the works, but no one would confirm it. It comes at a time when Holmes is in the third week of her trial on charges of defrauding investors and patients on claims she made about her blood testing start up, even as it became clear there were major flaws in her mousetrap

Theranos claimed to have developed a rapid blood testing system that needed just a finger prick of blood to identify diseases. However, it was later revealed that the company had not been using its much-touted technology to perform diagnoses sent to customers. Holmes was subsequently charged with fraud in 2018 by the SEC. The aforementioned trial is currently underway.

Bad Blood

The film adaption of “Bad Blood: Secrets and Lies in a Silicon Valley,” has been in the work for almost six years. The rights to the biopic were originally owned by Legendary Pictures but Apple Original Studios has joined on in recent months.

To watch Bad Blood when it becomes available, viewers will need a subscription to Apple’s streaming service. For $4.99 per month, Apple TV+ is available on iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, Apple TV via the Apple TV app.
