Apple TV+ orders “Criminal Record”, a new London crime thriller series

Apple TV+ has acquired a new crime thriller series “Criminal Record”. The upcoming eight-episode series follows the investigation of an older murder case by two detectives in London played by Peter Capaldi and Cush Jumbo.

Currently, in production in London, the new “Criminal Record” series is created by Paul Rutman and directed by Jim Loach. It is exectuive produced by Rutman, Elaine Collins, Capaldi, and Laurence Olivier.

The upcoming series “Criminal Record” is the story of two London detectives, Chief Inspector Daniel Hegarty (played by Capaldi) and Sergeant June Lenker (played by Jumbo) lock horns over an old murder case and form an unlikely partnership in pursuit of justice for the victim.

The new one-hour thriller series also uncovers the issues of racism and institutional failure.

“Criminal Record” is a powerful, character-driven thriller set in the heart of contemporary London. An anonymous phone call draws two brilliant detectives into a confrontation over an old murder case – one a young woman in the early stages of her career, the other a well-connected man determined to protect his legacy.

The series touches on issues of race, institutional failure, and the quest to find common ground in a polarised Britain. Capaldi (“Doctor Who,” “The Thick of It”) stars as Detective Chief Inspector Daniel Hegarty, and Jumbo (“The Good Wife,” “The Good Fight,” “The Beast Must Die”) stars as Detective Sergeant June Lenker.

Apple TV+ is going to premiere a new psychological thriller series “Surface” from Veronica West on July 29, 2022. Situated in the high society of San Francisco, the show follows the life of Sophie (played by Gugu Mbatha-Raw) who suffers from memory loss after a head injury possibly caused by her suicide attempt.

The streamer has also ordered a new Spanish-language crime drama series “Las Azules” from Fernando Rovzar. Starring Bárbara Mori, the upcoming series follows the life of Mexico’s first female police officer, Maria.
