The show is based on M.O. Walsh’s novel of the same name and created by Emmy Award-winning David West Read. It tells the story of a small town that is forever changed by the mysterious appearance of a machine in the general store. This machine, called the Morpho, promises to reveal each resident’s true life potential.

Chris O’Dowd plays the role of high school teacher Dusty Hubbard, who initially remains skeptical of the machine’s claims. However, as he watches his fellow citizens use the machine to reevaluate their life choices and ambitions, he begins to wonder if it might be worth giving the Morpho a chance. Meanwhile, his wife Cass, played by Gabrielle Dennis, believes that the machine’s printouts could help her achieve a better life.

In addition to O’Dowd and Dennis, The Big Door Prize features an ensemble cast that includes Ally Maki, Josh Segarra, Damon Gupton, Crystal Fox, Djouliet Amara, and Sammy Fourlas.

The series is produced by Skydance Television and CJ ENM/Studio Dragon, with David Ellison and Dana Goldberg serving as executive producers for Skydance Television, and Miky Lee, Young Kyu Kim, and Hyun Park serving as executive producers from CJ ENM/Studio Dragon. The series is directed by Anu Valia, Molly McGlynn, Todd Biermann, Jenee LaMarque, and Declan Lowney, and Read serves as showrunner and executive producer.

The Big Door Prize is set to premiere at SXSW in March, and Apple TV+ subscribers will be able to watch the show starting on March 29.
