Apple is bringing several useful upgrades to Wallet with iOS 27, making the app more capable for everyday payments, loyalty cards, event tickets, and travel. The update introduces a new Create a Pass feature, Apple Cash bill splitting, enhanced hotel keys, and improvements to Apple Pay and Wallet passes.

While Apple Intelligence took center stage at WWDC 2026, many of the new Wallet features are practical additions that users will likely notice right away. The changes aim to reduce reliance on physical cards while making Wallet a more useful hub for payments, passes, and travel information.
The biggest addition is Create a Pass. The new feature allows users to turn physical cards with barcodes or QR codes into digital Wallet passes. This is particularly useful for membership cards, loyalty programs, gym passes, and tickets that do not offer official Apple Wallet support.
Users can access the feature by tapping the plus button in Wallet and selecting Create a Pass. Passes can be created automatically using the new Siri mode in the Camera app or manually using built-in templates. Wallet currently offers templates for membership cards, event tickets, and standard passes, with editable fields for names, dates, membership numbers, seat information, and more.
Once created, the pass can be stored in Wallet and presented just like a traditional digital pass. Apple also includes basic customization options, including different colors and backgrounds.
Another notable addition is bill splitting with Apple Cash. Using Siri mode, users can point their iPhone at a receipt and have Apple Intelligence identify individual items, calculate taxes and tips, and determine exactly how much each person owes. The feature works through Wallet, Messages, and the Camera app, although Apple Cash support means it is currently limited to the United States.
Apple is also expanding its enhanced pass experience. Previously introduced for boarding passes, the richer design is now coming to loyalty cards, rewards cards, gift cards, and membership passes. These updated passes can display more detailed artwork and relevant information directly within Wallet.
Hotel keys are getting an upgrade as well. At participating hotels and resorts, digital room keys stored in Wallet will be able to show trip details, booked activities, and available services, creating a more useful travel experience without requiring a separate app.
Apple Pay is receiving a redesigned checkout experience in iOS 27. Users will be able to swipe through available payment cards more easily, while eligible cards can display additional information such as rewards balances, debit account balances, and financing options before checkout.
Apple also plans to introduce Tap to Share later this year. The feature allows customers to connect with a merchant’s iPhone during checkout to securely share information, view purchased items in real time, and complete payments through Apple Pay without additional taps.
Elsewhere, Wallet order tracking is expanding to Australia and Canada after previously being limited to the United States and United Kingdom. Apple is also adding support for additional barcode formats, making Wallet compatible with a wider range of physical cards and passes.
