Apple has released the third public beta of iOS 27, giving public beta testers access to the latest build ahead of the software’s expected public release in September. The update follows iOS 27 Public Beta 2 by two weeks and matches the fifth developer beta released earlier this week.
The latest beta does not introduce another major headline feature, but it adds several smaller changes across the iPhone interface. Apple has updated several app icons, expanded Search settings, added a new Siri voice option, and made a few other system-level adjustments.

Apple Updates Several App Icons
Apple has refreshed the icons for several built-in apps, including Safari, Siri, Remote, and Preview.
The changes are part of the continued visual refinement of iOS 27. Other app icons have also received smaller adjustments, with Apple adding more definition and depth to elements of the Liquid Glass interface.
Search Gets More Customization Options
iOS 27 Public Beta 3 adds a new Before Search section to the Search settings.
The new section lets users control how much information appears before they start a search. Options include app suggestion counts, app shortcut suggestions, and recent searches.
These controls also affect the suggestions shown when opening Search from the Home Screen, giving users more control over what iOS displays before they enter a query.
Siri’s Enhanced Voice Adds British English
Apple has expanded its enhanced Siri voice with support for British English in the latest beta.
This is separate from the larger Siri AI upgrade arriving with iOS 27. Siri AI can maintain longer conversations, access personal information, understand onscreen content, and perform actions across supported apps.
Siri AI requires an iPhone that supports Apple Intelligence.
Control Center Drops Cellular Network Type on Wi-Fi
The cellular network type no longer appears in Control Center when an iPhone is connected to Wi-Fi. The change removes network information that is less relevant while the device is using a wireless connection.
5G+ Appears for EE Users in the UK
iOS 27 Public Beta 3 also adds a 5G+ indicator for EE users in the UK. This appears to be a carrier-specific change rather than a new 5G feature being introduced across all iPhones.
Siri AI Indexing Continues
The latest beta also continues background indexing related to Siri AI. Since Siri AI is designed to work with information across apps and understand personal context, some of its capabilities require the iPhone to process and index information after installation. Users may therefore notice indexing activity while the system prepares the device.
iOS 27’s Bigger Features Are Still Here
The latest public beta builds on the larger changes introduced throughout the iOS 27 beta cycle.
Siri AI remains one of the biggest additions, with Apple’s redesigned assistant gaining conversational history, access to personal information, onscreen awareness, and the ability to take actions across apps. Apple has also expanded Apple Intelligence features across apps including Photos, Safari, Calendar, Shortcuts, and Wallet.
Apple has also continued refining Liquid Glass. iOS 27 adds a customization slider that lets users adjust the interface between a clearer and more tinted appearance.
Performance is another major focus of iOS 27. Apple says apps can launch faster, AirDrop transfers can be quicker, and everyday interactions should feel more responsive, including on older supported iPhones.
iOS 27 Public Beta 3 Compatibility
iOS 27 supports the same iPhone models that support iOS 26, including the iPhone 11 and newer and the iPhone SE (2nd generation) and later.
However, Apple Intelligence features require newer hardware. Apple Intelligence starts with the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, along with newer compatible iPhone models.
Apple is expected to continue testing iOS 27 throughout August before releasing the final version in September alongside the next-generation iPhone lineup.
The third public beta is now available to users enrolled in Apple’s beta program through Settings > General > Software Update > Beta Updates.
