Safari is one of the most improved apps in iOS 27. Instead of introducing a major redesign, Apple has focused on making the browser smarter and more useful with Apple Intelligence. The update adds tools that can monitor webpages, automatically organize tabs, generate custom extensions, update compromised passwords, and make everyday browsing more efficient.
Here’s a look at every new Safari feature in iOS 27.

Notify Me
Notify Me lets you ask Safari to monitor a webpage and alert you when something changes. Apple says the feature is ideal for tracking concert ticket sales, product restocks, price changes, or other updates without repeatedly checking the same page yourself.

To use it, open a webpage, tap the settings icon to the left of the address bar, select Notify Me, describe what you want Safari to watch for, and choose how often it should check. Safari can monitor pages daily, weekly, or monthly.
Automatic Tab Organization
Apple Intelligence can now automatically organize your open tabs into relevant topics, making it easier to keep different projects separate. For example, tabs related to travel planning won’t be mixed with shopping or work research.

To enable the feature, open the tab overview, tap the three-line menu in the upper-right corner, and turn on Automatically Create Topics. The same menu also lets you browse and filter tab groups by topic.
Password Auto-Update via Safari
The Passwords app can now use Safari to automatically update weak or compromised passwords on supported websites.
Instead of manually signing in and changing passwords yourself, Apple Intelligence handles the process by navigating the site, updating the credentials, and saving the new password with minimal user input. It is one of the biggest quality-of-life improvements for password management in iOS 27.
Describe an Extension
Safari can now create browser extensions using Apple Intelligence. A new Describe an Extension option lets you describe the functionality you want, and Safari generates an extension based on your request.

Apple also includes suggested templates organized into categories such as Boost Productivity, Improve Focus, Get Creative, and Develop and Design to help users get started. This feature requires an Apple Intelligence-compatible iPhone.
Resume Browsing and redesigned Start Page
The Safari Start Page has been redesigned with a new Resume Browsing section that surfaces recently closed tabs alongside pages currently open on your other Apple devices.
The Start Page also gains dedicated tabs for Favorites, Bookmarks, Reading List, and History, making navigation more intuitive. Bookmarks and Reading List items can now be organized by topic, adding another layer of organization for users with large collections of saved pages.
Siri integration for images
Safari now lets you ask Siri about images directly from the browser. Simply long-press an image and choose the Siri option to use Apple Intelligence for additional information about the image without leaving Safari. The feature is available on Apple Intelligence-supported devices.
Ask to Browse
Families using Screen Time gain a new Ask to Browse feature. When enabled, children must request permission before visiting new websites in Safari. Parents can approve or deny requests from their own devices, providing additional oversight without completely blocking web access.

Performance and battery improvements
Apple says Safari in iOS 27 is more power efficient, helping reduce battery usage during everyday browsing. The update also improves JavaScript performance, speeds up loading for web apps and Start Page content, delivers smoother animations, and includes broader browser compatibility improvements for modern websites.
Device compatibility
Safari’s general improvements are available on iPhone 11 and later running iOS 27. However, Apple Intelligence features, including Notify Me, Automatic Tab Organization, AI-generated extensions, Siri image integration, and automatic password updates, require an iPhone 15 Pro or later that supports Apple Intelligence.
