Fresh code-level details have surfaced on Apple’s upcoming AI day summary tool for Apple Watch, and it’s a lot more invasive than the early framing suggested. Leaker “pdfu” broke down the feature’s internal structure today, giving the first real look at what it’s actually built to capture.
What the Feature Actually Logs
Internally called “Ambient Sensing,” the system pulls together a daily recap using several data points: when something happened, where you were, what you ate, and who you were with, including how that person relates to you. That last detail stands out. This isn’t a fitness tracker logging steps. It’s software trying to reconstruct the shape of your day, down to the company you kept.
pdfu also dug up the full roster of activity types the code is built to recognize. It’s a sprawling list, spanning cooking and chores through workouts, travel, shopping, and screen habits, plus a generic “Unknown” tag for anything that doesn’t fit a category.

Matches What Gurman Already Reported
This tracks with what Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman said earlier today: the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 are expected to launch with a Recaps tool that reviews your day, conversations included, and hands you a summary afterward. Gurman’s reporting says no audio is kept or turned into a transcript, which appears to be Apple’s answer to the obvious privacy concern. The technical mechanics behind that claim are still unknown.
Put the two reports together and a pattern emerges: the watch picking up on context rather than words, tagging your location, company, and activity type in real time, then compiling it all into something you review later.
