Lady Gaga, a curator of Global Citizen, said that the global special ‘One World’ has already raised $35 million dollars for the support of healthcare workers in this battle with COVID-19.
Co-founder and CEO of Global Citizen, Hugh Evans said in a press conference that the aim and purpose of the organization is to work on global health care by providing medical aid, resources and assistance to the most marginalized and poorest fractions of the world. They hope to deliver the message of global humanity and to highlight the tireless work by the health care community to save lives by putting their own at risk during coronavirus pandemic.
“As we honor and support the heroic efforts of community health workers, One World: Together At Home aims to serve as a source of unity and encouragement in the global fight to end COVID-19 through music, entertainment, and impact, the global live-cast will celebrate those who risk their own health to safeguard everyone else’s.”
There is no denying that compliance with precautionary measures to contain the spread of COVID-19 is difficult which has affected every single individual in the world and has created an atmosphere of fear and depression. We can fight this together by maintaining isolation and practicing social distancing and the virtual concert hopes to keep people mentally healthy via entertainment.
