How To Download VLC Player For iPhone/iPod/iPad From Cydia As Apple Pulls It From App Store!

We blogged about expected removal of VLC medial player for iPhone and iPad from the App Store back in November as a formal notification of copyright infringement was sent to Apple by RĂ©mi Denism, the lead contributor of the original VLC project. Now, Apple has eventually pulled the plug on VLC media player for iOS and is gone from the App Store for good. However, if you were too lazy for some reason to download a FREE copy of VLC before it got pulled, looks like you can still grab it for free, only this time from Cydia!

The VLC app is now hosted on Ryan Petrich’s repo in Cydia. Here is how you can get it:

Step 1:

Open up Cydia on your jailbroken iOS device.

Step 2:

Tap the Manage tab and select Sources.

Step 3:

Now tap the Edit button and select Add.

Step 4:

Type the following repo and tap Add Source:

Step 5:

Now tap the newly added repo and you’ll see VLC Media Player listed.

Step 6:

Select VLC Media Player and hit install.
