iOS 26.5 public beta 3 now available with fixes

Apple has released iOS 26.5 public beta 3, continuing its testing cycle ahead of a wider rollout. The update is now available to public beta testers and follows the earlier developer builds, signaling that the software is moving closer to a stable release. As expected at this stage, the focus is less on major additions and more on refining performance and fixing issues reported in previous versions.

This release builds on changes introduced in earlier iOS 26.5 betas, including subtle feature updates and backend improvements. While there are no major headline features in this build, Apple is clearly tightening system stability and improving overall responsiveness before the final version ships to all users.

Most users installing iOS 26.5 public beta 3 will notice smoother performance across the system. App launches feel more consistent, animations are more stable, and issues like random crashes or battery drain reported in earlier betas are expected to be reduced. These incremental improvements are typical as Apple prepares a release candidate.

The update also continues testing a few feature additions introduced earlier in the beta cycle. Apple Maps now includes a Suggested Places feature within search, making it easier to discover locations based on context. Apple is also testing end to end encryption support for RCS messaging, although this is still not finalized.

In select regions such as Europe, Apple is experimenting with pushing Live Activities to third party accessories, which could expand how real time updates are delivered beyond the iPhone. Another under the hood change points to support for subscription pricing models that allow monthly payments with a 12 month commitment, offering more flexibility for users and developers.

From a developer perspective, iOS 26.5 beta 3 includes updates to StoreKit with new APIs for handling subscription pricing terms and billing plans. Apple has also resolved issues related to wallpaper installation and StoreKit testing sessions, improving reliability for developers working with the latest SDK.

iOS 26.5 public beta 3 can be installed through the Settings app by going to General > Software Update, provided the device is enrolled in the public beta program. As always, beta software may still include bugs, so backing up data before installing is recommended.
