Apple’s second developer beta of iOS 27 includes a collection of smaller features and refinements that did not receive much attention during WWDC 2026. While the release does not introduce any major new headline capabilities, it expands Apple Intelligence integrations, improves Wallet, adds useful Shortcuts controls, and makes managing Apple TV devices easier.
Many of these changes are relatively small on their own, but together they offer a clearer picture of where Apple is taking iOS 27. The update continues the company’s push to integrate Siri AI throughout the operating system while adding practical improvements to core apps and services.

Siri Arrives in Photos and Safari
One of the most notable additions in iOS 27 beta 2 is a new “Ask Siri” option that appears in the Photos app. The feature marks one of the first visible signs of Apple’s broader Siri AI integration strategy making its way into developer builds.

Apple has also added an “Ask Siri” option to Safari. However, early testing suggests the feature is currently more limited than some users expected. Rather than understanding the entire contents of a webpage, Siri appears to rely primarily on visible screen content and webpage titles.
Users testing the feature found that Siri struggled to explain webpage content when Safari was positioned on blank areas of a page. For now, the experience feels more like screen awareness than a true AI webpage assistant.
Write with Siri Moves Onto the Keyboard
Apple has made Write with Siri significantly easier to access in beta 2.

Previously, users needed to highlight text and navigate through the Writing Tools interface. Now, Write with Siri appears directly above the keyboard whenever a text field is empty, making it available before users start typing.
The feature can generate text, rewrite passages, provide writing feedback, and proofread content. Once text is selected, the Siri button remains available for editing and revision tasks.
Shortcuts Gets a New Automation Toggle
The Shortcuts app gains a useful quality-of-life improvement with a new per-automation toggle.
Users can now enable or disable automations directly from the Automations list without opening individual automations. The addition is particularly useful because iOS 27 has fundamentally changed how automations work behind the scenes.

Automations are now treated as standard shortcuts with triggers attached, allowing them to sync through iCloud. Since synced automations arrive disabled on other devices by default, the new toggle makes managing them much easier.
Some beta testers have also reported that turning an automation off and back on can temporarily resolve automation issues present in the current beta.
Wallet Insights Expands to US Users
Apple Wallet gains a notable upgrade with the US rollout of Wallet Insights.

The feature allows users to connect accounts and view spending trends, recurring transactions, account balances, and financial summaries directly within Wallet. While the capability was already available in select international markets, iOS 27 beta 2 brings it to users in the United States.
The interface presents financial data in a visual format similar to Apple’s Health app, making it easier to track spending patterns over time.
Home App Can Now Update Apple TV 4K
With iOS 27 beta 2, users can initiate Apple TV 4K software updates directly from the Home app. Previously, updates required accessing the Settings app on the Apple TV itself or waiting for automatic updates to run.

The change brings Apple TV management closer to HomePod, which has supported Home app software updates for years.
Other Notable iOS 27 Beta 2 Features
Several additional changes are included in the latest beta.
RCS conversations in Messages now support inline replies. AirPods Max 2 firmware updates function correctly after issues reported in the first beta. Early testers also report that Siri AI feels faster and more responsive during daily use.
Apple is also preparing additional Siri voice customization features, although Pace and Expressivity controls continue to be listed as coming soon.
