2024 iPad Pro, iPad Air tipped to launch in May – Gurman

The release of new iPad Pro and iPad Air models has been pushed back to early May 2024, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. This delay from the previously anticipated dates in March and April is attributed to Apple’s meticulous approach to perfecting these upcoming devices.

For consumers, these upcoming iPad models represent a significant upgrade opportunity, especially for those looking for cutting-edge technology in their portable computing devices. The combination of advanced display technology, powerful processors, and software refinements promises a compelling user experience across various tasks and applications.

New iPad Pro and Air with OLED displays and M3 chips to arrive before WWDC 2024

One of the most anticipated upgrades is the introduction of OLED display technology to the iPad Pro lineup. This advancement promises significantly brighter and sharper screens while consuming less power, marking a substantial leap in display quality for Apple’s tablets. Additionally, both the iPad Pro and iPad Air models will receive updates to their processing power with the new M3 chips, ensuring improved performance and efficiency.

The iPad Pro will continue to be available in the standard 11-inch display size and larger 12.9-inch OLED display options, catering to users who prefer a more expansive screen for productivity and multimedia consumption. On the other hand, the 2024 iPad Air will come in the familiar 10.9-inch size and a larger 12.9-inch variant, offering users more choices based on their preferences and usage scenarios.

Several factors contribute to the delay in releasing these new iPads. The complex manufacturing techniques for the new OLED displays have made it challenging to scale production and meet demand. In addition to this, the tech giant is diligently working on software optimizations to guarantee a seamless user experience at launch.

Alongside the hardware upgrades, Apple is expected to introduce software enhancements with iPadOS 17.5, further refining the user interface and adding new features to enhance productivity and creativity. Moreover, revamped accessories such as the Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil are anticipated to complement the new iPad lineup, offering users enhanced functionality and versatility.
