Apple is making a major battery-life claim for the iPhone 18 Pro lineup, but the wording on its website changes depending on where you look. In the US, Apple calls it “the longest battery life in an iPhone,” while the UK site describes it as “a big leap in battery life.”
The difference appears to be connected to the fact that some iPhone 18 Pro models have larger batteries than others. Apple’s eSIM-only versions can use the space normally occupied by a physical SIM tray for additional battery capacity.
The US Gets The Strongest Battery Claim
On Apple’s US website, the iPhone 18 Pro is promoted as having “the longest battery life in an iPhone.” Apple says the iPhone 18 Pro Max can deliver up to 45 hours of video playback, while the standard iPhone 18 Pro reaches up to 36 hours on eSIM-only models.
Apple’s UK website uses different wording. Instead of claiming the longest battery life in an iPhone, it calls the iPhone 18 Pro “a big leap in battery life.” The UK product page lists up to 43 hours of video playback for the iPhone 18 Pro Max.
That distinction is not accidental. Apple’s own newsroom says eSIM-only iPhone 18 Pro models have a larger battery because removing the physical SIM tray creates additional internal space. Apple says the extra capacity provides up to two additional hours of video playback.
Not Every iPhone 18 Pro Has The Same Battery
The eSIM-only versions of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are sold in Bahrain, Canada, Guam, Japan, Kuwait, Mexico, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, the US and the US Virgin Islands. Other markets, including the UK and much of Europe, continue to receive models with a physical SIM tray.
EU regulatory information has already revealed the battery capacities of the physical-SIM versions. The iPhone 18 Pro has a 4,056 mAh battery, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max has a 5,391 mAh battery. Apple has not disclosed the exact capacities of the eSIM-only versions, although it confirms that they are larger.
This also explains why comparing Apple’s battery claims across regions can be confusing. The same iPhone 18 Pro Max name can refer to hardware with different battery capacities depending on the market.
The Battery Difference Is More Noticeable On Pro Max
Apple’s biggest battery improvement is reserved for the iPhone 18 Pro Max. The eSIM-only version reaches up to 45 hours of video playback, six hours more than the iPhone 17 Pro Max. Apple also says the phone can provide up to 30 hours of use per charge.
The iPhone 18 Pro also benefits from the new battery design and A20 Pro chip, while faster wired charging can bring the phone to 50% in around 15 minutes with a compatible adapter.
For buyers outside the eSIM-only markets, Apple’s wording is therefore more cautious. The iPhone 18 Pro still brings improved battery life, but the exact hardware and resulting endurance depend on which regional version is being sold.
