Apple may increase the display sizes of the iPhone 20 Pro and iPhone 20 Pro Max, according to a new leak. The 2027 models are said to be testing 6.41-inch and 6.96-inch screens, respectively.
The difference would be modest compared with the iPhone 18 Pro models, but Apple could use the extra space as part of a new display design with much smaller visible bezels.
iPhone 20 Pro Display Sizes Could Increase
Chinese leaker Digital Chat Station claims the iPhone 20 Pro is being tested with a 6.41-inch display and a resolution of around 2,686 x 1,236 pixels.
The iPhone 20 Pro Max is reportedly being tested with a 6.96-inch display and a resolution of approximately 2,912 x 1,340 pixels. If the larger panel makes it into the final device, Apple could market it as a 7-inch display.
The iPhone 18 Pro has a 6.27-inch display, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max has a 6.86-inch display. Apple rounds those measurements to 6.3 and 6.9 inches in its specifications.
The leaked resolutions also point to a pixel density close to the 460 pixels per inch used by the iPhone 18 Pro models.
Apple Could Make The Display Look Larger
The rumored increase in screen size may be tied to a different approach to the edges of the display.
Digital Chat Station says Apple is testing a “borderless quad-curved” design, with the screen curving toward all four sides. Earlier reports have also described the 20th-anniversary iPhone as having a largely uninterrupted glass design with the metal frame and bezels hidden from view as much as possible.
Apple last increased the Pro iPhone display sizes with the iPhone 16 Pro lineup. The iPhone 16 Pro grew from 6.1 to 6.3 inches, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max went from 6.7 to 6.9 inches.
The iPhone 20 Pro models are not expected to see a similarly large jump. Instead, Apple could pair a small increase in screen dimensions with thinner or less visible borders.
Apple Is Still Testing The Front Camera Cutout
The front camera design could determine how close Apple gets to an uninterrupted display.
Apple has reportedly been working on under-display Face ID and possibly an under-display front camera for the 20th-anniversary iPhone. Moving those components beneath the screen would remove the need for a conventional cutout.
Digital Chat Station, however, says Apple is also testing a smaller Dynamic Island-style hole-punch design for the iPhone 20 Pro models. That suggests Apple may still be considering more than one approach.
The front camera is particularly difficult to hide because the display sits directly above it. Image quality and the visibility of the camera area remain challenges for under-display camera technology.
The Resolution Could Stay Close To Current iPhones
The reported resolutions are increasing by roughly the same proportion as the display sizes.
The iPhone 18 Pro uses a 2,622 x 1,206 resolution, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max uses 2,868 x 1,320. The rumored iPhone 20 Pro resolutions are 2,686 x 1,236 and 2,912 x 1,340.
That suggests Apple could keep the pixel density around 460 ppi instead of making a major change to display sharpness. Most of the difference would come from having a slightly larger panel.
iPhone 20 Pro Is Expected In 2027
Apple is expected to skip the iPhone 19 name and move from the iPhone 18 generation to the iPhone 20 lineup for its 20th anniversary.
The iPhone 20 Pro and iPhone 20 Pro Max are expected to launch in September 2027. The regular iPhone 18 lineup is expected to arrive earlier in the year under Apple’s reported change to its iPhone release schedule.
The display sizes, resolutions and camera design remain early-stage details. Apple could change any of these specifications before the iPhone 20 Pro models enter production.
