  1. followed all instructions as listed. all went well until reboot time… my ipod touch now will not turn on at all! my heart is slightly broken. ive read dozens of similar problems as my own, yet with no definitive solution. i tried holding the home button down then plugging it in, and got nothing. tried holding power button and home button down, again, nothing. there has to be a way to force a reset or something on this device. im entirely lost and upset at this point, im not sure if its the softwares fault or the hardware. i just need some flavor of a solution to this annoying problem. thanks for your help guys :)

    1. Plug in the ipod then go into itunes. click on the picture that says “Administrators Ipod” and hit restore. WARNING: THIS WILL DELETE ALL DOWNLOADED APPS AND SET DATA. IPOD WILL BE THE SAME AS IT WAS WHEN YOU FIRST GOT IT!

  2. Thanks sooooo much.
I have an ipod touch 1g with a broken home button and never thought i’d be able to jailbreak it without using DFU mode.

  3. It took abt 1 minute for the entire process. But I supposedly can't use it now because I switched it off.

Whenever I switch off the Ipod, I have to run blackra1n again..That's what was commented on my situation..I don't know if this is true ;(

  4. Hi there.. This is what someone commented on my problem.. Could this be true?

” Apparently with ipt 2g you have to run blackrain every time you restart “

    1. So then why is it always asking me to connect to Itunes after I shutdown and restart my touch? ;(

  5. when i turn my ipod off and i turn it back on it shows that its on recovery mode and i have to redo the restore on itunes so it could go back to normal or else i can’t take off the recovery mode it would just stay and also i have to redo the jailbreak with blackra1n. how can i fix this problem from the ipod so i could turn it off and back on like a normal ipod?

  6. This might be worth a short .. uninstall and re-install iTunes and restore your Ipod version.

Plug the Ipod into the USB and wait for about 10 minutes before you start the process ;)

    Good luck!

  7. there must be a way to install cydia without wifi……my iphoooone 3g with firmware 3.1.2 has jaailbroken but i dont have wifi to install cydia plzzz guide me some step to do it manually…..

  8. This is because it is a tethered jailbreak for ipt3. one you turn of you have to run again. Thats just how George wrote it to work on ipt3.

  9. Ditto, cannot get it to work, just bought ipod touch 3g on sunday, updated and all that crap, followed every set of directions around and still have the black dead screen after the boys face. I give up for a day or two when someone figures this out.

  10. ok. allow me to clarify this… my ipod touch is no longer being turned on period. not when plugged in, not when going through the holding-down-home-button process, not at all. infact, its not even picked up by the computer at all. some of you guys have been throwing out solutions assuming that it will be picked up as plugged in… doesnt apply to me. please aid me in fixing my new paperweight.
