Apple posts ‘Slide to Upgrade’ issue fix for iOS 9

iOS 9 update has gone rather smoothly for most iPhone, iPad and iPod touch users. However, there are some users who are complaining about crashes and upgrade issues. One of them is related to the ‘slide to upgrade’ screen which does not respond after upgrading the device to iOS 9. Apple has updated its support pages to share a workaround.

Here are the steps to follow if your iPhone or iPad is stuck on the ‘Slide to Upgrade’ screen:

  • Connect your iOS device to your computer and open iTunes.
  • Select your device. If you don’t see it listed, force restart your device by pressing and holding both the Sleep/Wake and Home button for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.
  • If you made an iTunes backup of your device before updating to iOS 9, restore your device from that backup. If not, you need to make a backup of your device in iTunes, then restore from that backup.

These are not the only issues that iOS upgraders are facing. Slow performance and lag on older iOS devices, despite being of the main features of iOS 9, is another problem being reported across multiple Internet forums and social networks. iOS 9.1 beta seems to be the remedy for these issues as it brings some performance and battery optimisations to iPhone. iOS 9.1 is expected to release along with iPad Pro in November so there is still some time to go. However, if Apple releases it earlier, we will keep you updated.
