The Touchscreen MacBook Pro battery life reaches 24 hours of video streaming on the 16-inch model with M5 Pro, and touch costs no battery life. Every rating matches the non-touch MacBook Pro with the same chip and screen size.
Apple’s battery ratings run from 20 to 22 hours on the 14-inch and 22 to 24 hours on the 16-inch, depending on M5 Pro or M5 Max. Both sizes ship November 6, and the 14-inch MacBook Pro with M6 is rated two hours higher than the 14-inch touchscreen model with M5 Pro.
Touchscreen MacBook Pro Battery Life Matches the Non-Touch Ratings
The four configurations are rated as follows for video streaming and wireless web browsing:
- 14-inch with M5 Pro: 22 hours of video and 14 hours of web
- 14-inch with M5 Max: 20 hours of video and 13 hours of web
- 16-inch with M5 Pro: 24 hours of video and 17 hours of web
- 16-inch with M5 Max: 22 hours of video and 16 hours of web
The non-touch MacBook Pro carries identical ratings in each of those configurations. The 14-inch touchscreen model has a 72.6 watt-hour battery against 72.4 on the non-touch model, and the 16-inch keeps a 100 watt-hour battery.
Weight drops without a rating penalty, since the 14-inch touchscreen model weighs 3.0 pounds against 3.5 for the non-touch model with M5 Pro and the 16-inch weighs 4.0 pounds against 4.7. Apple ran the touchscreen tests in September 2026 and the non-touch tests in January and February 2026, both with display brightness at 8 clicks and the keyboard backlight off.
The Base 14-Inch Model Ships With an Adapter Below the Fast-Charge Threshold
Fast charging to 50 percent in 30 minutes needs a 96W or higher USB-C power source on the 14-inch and 140W or higher on the 16-inch. The 14-inch with the 15-core M5 Pro, the base touchscreen configuration, ships with a 70W adapter, so that model needs a separate 96W adapter at $79 to reach the quoted speed.
The 14-inch with the 18-core M5 Pro or M5 Max includes a 96W adapter, and the 16-inch includes a 140W adapter. The 16-inch with M5 Max also has a 94W minimum recommended charging wattage, against 70W for the non-touch 16-inch with M5 Max.
The 14-Inch MacBook Pro With M6 Has the Longest Rating of the 14-Inch Models
The 14-inch MacBook Pro with M6 is rated for 24 hours of video and 16 hours of web with a 72.4 watt-hour battery. That is two hours more than the 14-inch touchscreen model with M5 Pro on both measures, and the M6 model starts at $1,999 against $2,899.
Without a plan, battery service costs $229 on the 14-inch and $249 on the 16-inch, and AppleCare+ for the touchscreen MacBook Pro replaces the battery for free once capacity drops below 80 percent.
