MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display AppleCare+ Starts at $14.99 a Month

Touchscreen MacBook Pro AppleCare+ costs $14.99 a month for the 14-inch and $17.99 for the 16-inch, which is $2 and $2.50 more than the same sizes without touch. A screen or enclosure claim costs the same $99 as on the non-touch MacBook Pro.

The gap adds up to $20 a year on the 14-inch and $25 on the 16-inch. Without a plan, battery service costs $229 on the 14-inch and $249 on the 16-inch, while AppleCare+ for Mac replaces the battery for free below 80 percent capacity.

Touchscreen MacBook Pro AppleCare+ Runs $2 to $2.50 a Month Higher

Apple prices the plan by model, so the 14-inch touchscreen MacBook Pro with M5 Pro or M5 Max costs $14.99 a month or $149.99 a year. The non-touch 14-inch with the same chips costs $12.99 or $129.99, and the 14-inch MacBook Pro with M6 costs $10.99 or $109.99.

On the 16-inch, the touchscreen model costs $17.99 a month or $179.99 a year, against $15.49 or $154.99 without touch. The touch and non-touch models already differ by $400 in hardware price at every size. A year of the plan adds about 5.2 percent to the $2,899 starting price of the 14-inch and about 5.3 percent to the $3,399 starting price of the 16-inch.

Under AppleCare+, a Screen Claim Costs $99 With or Without Touch

The plan covers unlimited accidents, with $99 for screen or enclosure damage and a flat $299 for other damage, including spills. Those are the same fees Apple charges for the non-touch MacBook Pro, so the tandem OLED touch display carries no repair surcharge under AppleCare+.

Out-of-warranty damage repair has no public price on either size, because Apple sets the fee only after inspecting the Mac. The $99 fee is the only damage price tied to the new touch display so far.

The plan also covers the included power adapter and adds onsite service, where Apple sends a technician or has a courier pick up the Mac. Mail-in repairs use a prepaid shipping kit.

Battery replacement is free with the plan once capacity drops below 80 percent, and priority support runs 24 hours a day. You can add the plan at checkout or within 60 days of buying the Mac, and pre-orders are open for the November 6 launch.

As a Fourth AppleCare One Product, the MacBook Pro Costs $5.99 a Month

AppleCare One Individual covers up to three products from $19.99 a month, and each extra product costs $5.99 a month. A touchscreen MacBook Pro added as a fourth product therefore costs $9 less a month than the 14-inch plan on its own and $12 less than the 16-inch plan. AppleCare One Family covers every eligible device for up to six people at $49.99 a month, with the same service fees as AppleCare+.
