watchOS 2.2.1 and tvOS 9.2.1 roll out to users with bug fixes

Apple has rolled out the final versions of watchOS 2.2.1 and tvOS 9.2.1 to Apple Watch and Apple TV users respectively. The new releases contain bug fixes and security updates. Apple also released OS X 10.11.5 and iOS 9.3.2 along with these updates.

Unlike previous watchOS and tvOS updates, these new releases do not contain any new features but mostly bug fixes, performance improvements and security patches.

To download and install watchOS 2.2.1 on your Apple Watch, open up the Watch app on your paired iPhone and go to Settings > Software Update. Make sure that you put the Watch on the charger (the battery must be at least 50% full) and follow the instruction to download and install the update.

Apple TV users can go to Settings > System > Software Updates to download and install tvOS 9.2.1

The previous update, tvOS 9.2, shipped with tons of new features such as folders, Bluetooth keyboard support, voice dictation, a redesigned app switcher (like iOS), iCloud Photo Library, Live Photos support and updated firmware for Siri remote to improve motion detection performance. Siri voice support was also been expanded to include more languages like US Spanish and French Canadian. Major updates are expected to be announced at WWDC 2016 with tvOS 10.

On the other hand, watchOS 2.2 for Apple Watch did not have any new noticeable features except for bug fixes and stability improvements. The new features are expected to be launched with watchOS 3 which should be announced at WWDC 2016. Expected features include third party watch faces support and improved performance for third-party apps. Let us hope that Apple delivers on both fronts.

Stay tuned as we keep you updated with the latest news on tvOS and watchOS.
