WhatsApp is building support for a third account on the same iPhone. The update would raise the current limit from two accounts to three inside a single copy of the app.
WABetaInfo found the feature inside the WhatsApp beta for iOS 26.37.10.15, distributed through TestFlight. The outlet reports the feature is still in early development and isn’t available to beta testers yet.
WhatsApp added multi-account support to the iPhone app earlier this year, letting users add a second phone number without logging out of the first. Each account keeps its own chat history, notifications, backup, and settings. Switching between accounts happens from inside the app settings, with no need for WhatsApp Business or a second device.
The third account slot follows the same setup as the first two. Users open the Account List from settings and choose the option to add a new phone number, or tap Switch Accounts to do the same thing. WhatsApp treats the new account the same way it treats the existing ones, so there’s no new interface to learn.

Each account on the same iPhone keeps:
- Its own chat history and media
- Separate push notifications, labeled by account
- Independent backup settings
- Its own App Lock and privacy controls
Notifications for the third account arrive labeled by name, so users can tell which number a message belongs to without opening the app.
The three-account feature only exists in a development build right now. WABetaInfo says WhatsApp hasn’t opened it to TestFlight testers and hasn’t set a public release date. The outlet also notes WhatsApp could raise the account limit past three once this update ships.
Our Take
Support for a third account would close a gap for niche use cases for iPhone users who split calls between a personal line, a work number, and a secondary account. Until now, anyone who needed a third number had to switch to WhatsApp Business or carry a second iPhone. Modern iPhone models already support multiple lines through eSIM, so catching up on the software side makes sense.
