Microsoft Office 2010 Beta Build leaks out, activation procedure changed

Microsoft Office 2010 Beta Build leaks out, activation procedure changed

Microsoft is in extreme need of a plumber to control the build leakage of its various softwares. Very recently Microsoft Office 2010 Beta 2 was leaked. The latest leak has the build number  14.0.4514.1009 and can be downloaded from torrent sites and third party sources. Looking at the build number, it seems the build was finalized on 14th October 2009 (Just a wild guess).

This latest build brings a new installation mechanism and is different to the traditional installation procedure.  Starting from Microsoft Office 2010 Build  14.0.4514.1009, you will be required to pass through the activation process successfully in order to start the actual installation. So what that means is that when you start the Office 2010 Beta installation, you will be prompted to provide a unique product key.  Only after providing the correct product key, the installation will start.

It is interesting to note that the same Build will be officially given the Beta 2 Milestone status and will be distributed to the Tech-Ed conference attendees. The Tech-Ed conference will be starting  in Berlin, Germany from 6th November. Thanks to Wzor for posting the Office 2010 Beta 2 images.
