Apple TV+ announced “Make or Break” docu-series on World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour will debut on April 29, 2022

Apple TV+ has announced that the new “Make or Break” documentary series will debut on Friday, April 29, worldwide. The upcoming seven-part docuseries will offer behind-the-scenes access to the world’s best surfers during the World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour. The soon-to-premiere series has also received an early season two renewal, its production is underway in the current 2022 competition season.

The new upcoming series was announced in December 2020, and it was called the “World Surf League” at the time. It was said to showcase the accomplishments and failures of the world’s best surfer during the World Surf League (WSL) title and elite WSL Championship Tour 2021 but the series did not premiere in 2021 and is going to debut this month. The new series is produced by Box to Box Films for Apple in partnership with WSL.

Apple TV+ new “Make or Break” documentary series will put the spotlight on the international surfers’ community

The upcoming docuseries delivers an “intimate” insight into the personal and professional aspirations, challenges, and accomplishments of surfers as they compete to remain on the elite 2021 Men’s and Women’s WSL Championship Tour.

“Make or Break” series will also follow the 2021 competition’s response to the global COVID-19 pandemic, explore stunning surfing locations around the world, and deeper dive into dynamic surfing culture and more. As per the announcement, the first season will offer exclusive interviews with the following internationally recognized surfers:

  • 11-time world champion and 56-time career victory winner Kelly Slater
  • Seven-time world champion Stephanie Gilmore
  • Three-time world champion Gabriel Medina
  • Two-time world champion Tyler Wright
  • 2019 World Champion and Olympic gold medalist Italo Ferreira
  • 2021 Olympian Tatiana Weston-Webb

Other surfers featured in “Make or Break” season 1 include Johanne Defay, Morgan Cibilic, Jeremy Flores, Leonardo Fioravanti, John John Florence, Filipe Toledo, Matt McGillivray, Kanoa Igarashi, Jack Robinson, and Isabella Nichols.

“Make or Break” joins Apple TV+’s slate of sports non-fiction programming, including “They Call Me Magic,” the broadly anticipated event series chronicling the life and career of two-time NBA Hall of Famer and cultural icon Earvin “Magic” Johnson, set to premiere April 22, 2022 on Apple TV+; as well as the recently announced new feature documentary about the groundbreaking life and career of seven-time Formula One world champion Sir Lewis Hamilton; and “The Dynasty” documentary event series about the New England Patriots from Brian Grazer and Ron Howard’s Imagine Documentaries, in association with NFL Films.
