OpenAI is working on a new ChatGPT feature that could make creating and adding custom WhatsApp stickers much easier. Called “ChatGPT Stickers,” the feature would let users create stickers in ChatGPT and export them directly to WhatsApp instead of downloading and importing each image manually.
The feature was discovered in the latest version of the ChatGPT Android app and is still under development. If released, it could turn the current multi-step process of creating, downloading, and importing stickers into a much simpler experience.
ChatGPT Could Make WhatsApp Stickers Much Easier
According to an APK teardown of ChatGPT for Android, OpenAI has added several strings related to a new sticker feature. They include “ChatGPT Stickers,” “Add to chat apps,” “Add to WhatsApp,” “Download stickers,” and “Couldn’t add stickers to WhatsApp.”
The most interesting option is “Add to WhatsApp.” It suggests users could eventually create stickers with ChatGPT and send them directly to WhatsApp as a custom sticker pack.
That would remove several steps from the process users currently have to follow. ChatGPT can already generate images that can be used as stickers, but users generally have to download those images and then use WhatsApp or another sticker-making tool to prepare and import them.
With the new feature, ChatGPT could handle the export itself.
The Android app also references “WhatsApp (3 minimum),” indicating that users would need to create at least three stickers before adding a pack to WhatsApp. That appears to be a WhatsApp requirement rather than an OpenAI limitation, as WhatsApp sticker packs require at least three stickers and can contain up to 30.
There is also a reference to com.whatsapp.intent.action.ENABLE_STICKER_PACK in the app’s code. This is an Android intent used by third-party apps to make sticker packs available in WhatsApp, providing additional evidence that direct WhatsApp sticker export is being worked on.
The wording “Add to chat apps” also leaves the door open for support beyond WhatsApp. However, WhatsApp is the only messaging app specifically referenced in the currently discovered strings, so it is too early to say whether other platforms will be supported.
The ChatGPT Sticker Feature Is Still In Development
ChatGPT Stickers is not currently available, and OpenAI has not announced when it plans to release the feature.
Because the discovery comes from an APK teardown, there is also no guarantee that every part of the feature will make it into the final version. OpenAI could change the implementation, expand support to other apps, or decide not to release it publicly.
Still, the combination of dedicated sticker strings and the WhatsApp integration code suggests this is more than a generic reference to image creation. OpenAI appears to be exploring a way to turn ChatGPT-generated images into ready-to-use stickers with much less manual work.
If the feature launches, it could be particularly useful for anyone who regularly uses custom WhatsApp stickers. Instead of creating images in ChatGPT and then moving them through another app, users could potentially generate a set of stickers and add them to WhatsApp directly.
For now, though, ChatGPT users will have to wait for an official release.
