Apple announced the iPad mini today, and pre-orders cover 36 countries and regions including the US. It also reaches Apple Store locations and Apple Authorized Resellers on November 6, and the pre-order day falls on Apple’s Pro and Tell event.

Pre-Orders Open at 1:10 p.m. Eastern on October 28

That works out to 1:10 p.m. Eastern, 12:10 p.m. Central and 11:10 a.m. Mountain on the US mainland, and daylight saving time does not end until Sunday, November 1. You can order at apple.com or in the Apple Store app, which lets you opt in to updates on new products and store events.

Apple also offers two-hour delivery from an Apple Store, free delivery and pickup, along with live online shopping with a Specialist. Buyers who order directly from Apple get access to Personal Setup sessions with a Specialist.

Decide on Finish, Storage and Connectivity Before You Order

The iPad mini comes in midnight and starlight, with 128GB, 256GB and 512GB of storage and Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi + Cellular models. Nano-texture glass is available only on the 256GB and 512GB models, and only the 512GB model has the 6-core CPU and the Dual 16-core Neural Engine.

Cellular models use eSIM only and are not compatible with physical SIM cards, so check that your carrier supports eSIM first. Wi-Fi + Cellular starts at $849, which is $150 above the $699 Wi-Fi model.

The Smart Folio costs $79 in navy blue or taupe, Apple Pencil Pro costs $129 and Apple Pencil (USB-C) costs $79. Apple engraves the iPad mini for free with a mix of emoji, names, initials and numbers.

Choose a Payment Option Before Checkout

Apple Card Monthly Installments run at 0 percent APR in the US, and Apple Upgrade leases start at $14.99 a month over 36 months. Education pricing starts at $649, and trade-in credit applies toward the purchase after Apple raised iPad and Mac trade-in values.

US buyers can finance the Wi-Fi + Cellular model through a carrier, and customers can choose AppleCare+ to cover accidents like drops and spills. In the US, AppleCare One Family covers every eligible device in a Family Sharing group for one fixed monthly price.

The order comes together in five choices, and it helps to settle each one before 10:10 a.m. PT.

  1. Pick midnight or starlight.
  2. Choose 128GB, 256GB or 512GB, with nano-texture glass on the 256GB and 512GB models.
  3. Choose Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi + Cellular.
  4. Add a Smart Folio and an Apple Pencil if you want them.
  5. Choose how to pay, whether to trade in a device and whether to add AppleCare+.

Storage is the decision that matters most, since it also settles the CPU and whether nano-texture is an option. The finish and the accessories matter less and are easy to add once the tablet ships.
