Apple announced the new 2020 iPad Air at the September 15 event along with the eighth-generation iPad, Apple Watch Series 6, and Apple Watch SE. Now a renowned Apple reporter, Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, reports that new devices are shipping to the company’s retails stores worldwide and those devices are most likely the new iPad Air.
Unlike the previous iPad Air models which looked and functioned like the higher-end versions of Apple’s entry-level tablets, the new iPad Air 4 is different in design, features, performance and will also be available in the ‘lite’ version of the iPad Pro models. Coupled with improved performance and a new display, the device also has a ton of new innovative features to offer.
iPad Air 4 Ready for Retail
At the time of the announcement, it was vaguely mentioned that new mid-range tablets will be available to shop in some time “next month”. Therefore, it can be presumed that the latest shipments to Apple Stores globally are of 2020 iPad Air which will go on sale in October. He did not give an exact date or time frame.
Gurman also mentioned that it would not be wise to assume that the delivered devices are the upcoming iPhone 12 units for it is “too early for the iPhones”. It is expected that the new flagship iPhone series will be announced on October 13, “Hi, Speed” event. As per reports, the company will follow the same iPhone X launch schedule by launching the smaller or lower-end models, 5.4-inch iPhone 12 mini and 6.1-inch iPhone this month and the higher-end models, 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Pro and 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max will launch in November.
Shipments of new devices have started landing at Apple stores for opening at a later date — likely the iPad Airs going on sale this month. Too early for the iPhones.

The new 10.9-inch tablets 2020 have a Liquid Retina display with a resolution of 2360 x 1640, improved True Tone. It is the first tablet with a fingerprint sensor embedded in the button on the side. Similar to the design, iPad Air 4 also has a USB-C like the current iPad Pro.
Additionally, the device will support 20W charging and 5Gbps data transfers. Wi-Fi 6 is also included, and optional LTE models will be available, with Apple promising 60 percent faster LTE connectivity. The tablet ships with the Magic Keyboard and the second-generation Apple Pencil support that makes it the first tablet outside the Apple Pro range to use this newer stylus. It attaches to the top of the tablet magnetically, which is how it charges.
