The new mini model is powered by the advanced A15 Bionic chip which comes with a 6-core chip with 2 high-performance cores and 4 high-efficiency cores, built on the 5nm process and contains 15 billion transistors. The upgraded Neural Engine is capable of 15.8 trillion operations per second. The chip also has a larger system cache that is twice the size of the one in the A14 chip. Apple has also included the following changes in the A15 chip: New ISP, display engine, video decoder, video encoder, and Wider lossy compression support.
The sixth-generation iPad Mini supports a 5G (sub-6 GHz) network for faster downloads, uploads, and high-quality streaming than the 4G network support of iPad Air 4. Unlike fourth-generation iPad Air, the new mini tablet can be paired with Bluetooth keyboards.
Apple has bridged the differences in the camera systems of the iPad models. Like the iPad Air, the new iPad mini 6 features a 12MP wide camera with ƒ/1.8 aperture, Digital zoom up to 5x, and Smart HDR 3 for photos. In addition, the mini model also features Quad-LED True Tone flash, and an extended dynamic range for video up to 30 fps.
The biggest difference is in the front camera systems of two iPad models: iPad Air has a 7MP FaceTime HD camera with ƒ/2.2 aperture and iPad mini has a 12 MP ultra-wide camera with ƒ/2.4 aperture, 2x zoom out, Center Stage and extended dynamic range for video up to 30 fps.
With the 2266‑by‑1488 resolution at 326 ppi, iPad mini 6 offers a denser display than iPad Air with a 2360‑by‑1640 resolution at 264 ppi. All the other specs of the models’ display are the same.
The battery of the smaller and cheaper iPad mini is just the same as the iPad Air. Both models deliver up to 10 hours of surfing the web on Wi‑Fi or watching a video and up to 9 hours of surﬁng the web using a cellular data network.
