Siri AI just got a lot more useful outside English-speaking households. iOS 27.2 beta 1, released today, expands Siri AI support to five additional languages.
When Siri AI launched alongside iOS 27 earlier this week, it was available only on iPhone models set to English. Apple had promised more languages were coming soon, and the wait turned out to be remarkably short.
Five New Languages Join Siri AI in This Beta
Developers running iOS 27.2 beta 1 can now access Siri AI on iPhone set to any of the following languages:
- English
- French
- Japanese
- Korean
- Portuguese
- Spanish
That is a sixfold jump in language support in a matter of days, going from a single language at public launch to six in the very first beta of the next update. Apple already confirmed this week that all five new languages would reach the general public in October, so this beta gives Apple roughly a month of testing before that wider rollout.
Not Every iPhone Gets Siri AI, Regardless of Language
Language support only matters if the iPhone can run Siri AI in the first place, and Apple splits that into three hardware tiers. The new languages in iOS 27.2 beta 1 apply across all three tiers equally, but the feature set inside Siri AI still depends on the device.

The Expressive Voices and enhanced dictation features are locked to the 12GB tier regardless of which language is selected, since both run on Apple’s most powerful on-device model rather than the standard Apple Intelligence stack.
iPad and Mac Follow the Same Two-Tier Split
Siri AI is not limited to iPhone. iPadOS 27.2 and macOS 27.2 carry the same language expansion, and the same hardware tiering, just measured in chips instead of model names.

That RAM requirement carries an odd side effect on Mac. The MacBook Neo, Apple’s newest laptop, ships with an M-series chip fast enough to qualify but only 8GB of unified memory, which puts it just under the threshold for Expressive Voices and enhanced dictation despite being one of Apple’s most recent machines.
