Apple’s iPhone Duo will offer a more detailed view of battery health than current iPhone models, with iOS 27 showing information for each battery cell individually.
The Battery settings will reportedly display the maximum capacity and cycle count for each cell, giving users a closer look at how the foldable’s battery system is aging over time.
iPhone Duo Will Show Individual Battery Cells
According to details found in iOS 27 (via @itspdfu), the iPhone Duo’s Battery settings will separate battery health information by cell instead of presenting a single overall figure.
Users will be able to see the maximum capacity and cycle count for each cell. This is particularly relevant for the Duo because its foldable design uses multiple battery cells rather than a single conventional battery pack.
The additional information could make it easier to identify differences in battery aging between the cells. For example, one cell may have a lower maximum capacity or higher cycle count than the other.
A More Detailed Battery Health View
Current iPhones provide battery health information such as maximum capacity and cycle count, but users generally see those figures as a single battery-level measurement.
The iPhone Duo’s approach could provide more insight into how its battery system is performing. It may also help explain uneven battery behavior if the cells age at different rates.
Some users are already questioning whether Apple will eventually bring similar battery information to devices such as iPads and MacBooks. For now, the individual-cell view appears tied to the iPhone Duo.
Why The Duo Needs Multiple Battery Cells
A foldable iPhone has less freedom when it comes to battery placement because the device is divided into two sections connected by a hinge.
Using multiple cells allows Apple to distribute battery capacity across the two halves of the device. Showing each cell separately in Battery settings would give users information that is more relevant to this design than a single capacity figure.
Apple has not publicly detailed the individual-cell battery health interface, so the final presentation could change before or after the iPhone Duo launches.
The iPhone Duo starts at $1,999 for 256GB, with pre-orders beginning October 16 and availability starting October 23.
