Some iPhone Duo pre-orders now show earlier delivery dates than Apple originally quoted. The changes began over the weekend, and most of the reports so far come from Japan.
As spotted by MacRumors, one Japanese customer posted a screenshot on X of an order that was estimated for December and now shows October 23, the iPhone Duo launch date. Several other buyers in Japan shared similar updates, with their orders pulled forward from later estimates.
Apple has not commented on the change, and it is possible the new estimates are errors that get reverted. If you pre-ordered an iPhone Duo last week, open your order in the Apple Store app and compare the delivery estimate against the one you saw at checkout.
Earlier iPhone Duo Dates Have Only Appeared on Orders Placed Directly With Apple
So far, the new dates appear limited to orders placed on Apple’s own online store. Carrier and reseller orders have not been part of the reports.
It is not yet clear whether the change will spread beyond Japan to the US and other countries. US orders placed after the first few minutes of pre-orders on October 16 were quoted January 25 or later, so a pulled-forward date there would be a big shift for buyers who are now waiting into 2027.
Pre-orders opened on October 16 at 5 a.m. Pacific Time. Within minutes, iPhone Duo delivery dates slid to January on Apple’s US store, with every configuration showing January 25 and some buyers seeing January 29.
Only customers who ordered the moment the store opened kept the October 23 date. The iPhone Duo starts at $1,999 for the 256GB model, and storage size or color no longer changed the wait once the estimates moved.
Resellers moved just as fast. A 2TB night sky iPhone Duo that Apple sells for $3,199 sold on eBay for $5,000, and confirmed pre-orders were listed well above Apple’s price within hours of the sell-out.
Short Supply Is Still Behind Every iPhone Duo Delivery Date
Apple said iPhone Duo demand was extraordinary after the sell-out, and the company has not shared how many units it had at launch. Mark Gurman has reported that Apple knew iPhone Duo supply was short and opened pre-orders anyway, in more than 70 countries and regions at once.
Buying in person will not be easy either. Some Apple Store employees have been told to expect no iPhone Duo stock for walk-in buyers on launch day. Pickup reservations were switched off after pre-orders opened, and Apple’s online store tells customers to check back on Saturday, October 24.
The iPhone Duo goes on sale on Friday, October 23, with 28 more countries and regions following on October 30.
