iOS 27.2 Release Candidate Adds Siri AI in Five Languages

Apple has seeded the iOS 27.2 release candidate to developers, the final test build before the public release. The iPadOS 27.2 release candidate arrived at the same time, six days after iOS 27.2 beta 4.

Release candidates for macOS Golden Gate 27.2, watchOS 27.2, tvOS 27.2, and visionOS 27.2 also went out on Monday, October 19. Registered developers can get the iPhone and iPad builds from the Apple Developer downloads page or from Software Update on the device.

The release candidate carries Siri AI in five new languages but not the Health redesign

Siri AI launched with iOS 27 in English only. The release candidate adds French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish, and Apple has said all five arrive in October.

The redesigned Health app is still missing. Apple pulled it from beta 4 and has said it will return in a later update. Anyone who tried it in an earlier beta keeps that Health data on the device, and it stays viewable in Settings.

Smaller changes include Apple TV app profiles on iPhone, anniversary reminders in Call Context when you call a contact, and a new Apple Music icon. Users in the EU also get an alternative App Tracking Transparency prompt, which is required in France, Germany, Italy, Poland, and Romania.

Developers can install the release candidate from Software Update

The build is limited to registered developers for now. The steps are the same as for the earlier betas.

  • Open Settings, then General, then Software Update.
  • Opt in and select the iOS 27 developer beta.
  • Download and install the iOS 27.2 release candidate or iPadOS 27.2 release candidate.

A release candidate is still pre-release software, so a secondary device is the safer place to run it. iPhone Duo buyers should think twice before installing iOS 27.2 early, since the foldable ships with iOS 27.1 on October 23.

iOS 27.2 has to ship before HomePod mini 2 arrives on October 30

Apple promised the Siri AI languages for October, so the public release is due before the month ends. The release candidate is normally the last stop before the final build reaches everyone.

HomePod mini 2 depends on the same update cycle. The speaker runs HomePod software 27.2, so the matching software needs to be live before the first units reach customers. HomePod mini 2 ships on Friday, October 30.
