Apple’s first foldable iPhone is now out of the hands of Apple executives and into those of the creators who will spend the most time putting it through its paces. MKBHD, iJustine, Mrwhosetheboss and other major tech creators have already shared their first looks at the iPhone Duo, revealing details that were difficult to appreciate during Apple’s launch event.
The videos show the Duo being opened, folded, held, photographed and used with iOS 27. They also give a better sense of its unusual proportions, inner display crease, hinge and how practical the larger screen feels in everyday use.
MKBHD And iJustine Show The Duo In Person
MKBHD’s first look gives viewers a close view of Apple’s new foldable alongside the iPhone 18 Pro. The footage makes the difference in form factor immediately apparent, particularly when the Duo is opened into its larger display.
MKBHD also shows Apple’s software transition as the phone moves between its folded and unfolded states. The interface adjusts as the screen opens rather than simply switching between two completely separate layouts.
iJustine has also shared footage from her time with the Duo, including a closer look at the device in her hand. Her Instagram post gives a particularly useful view of the phone’s proportions when folded and opened.
The physical design is one of the first things that stands out. Folded, the Duo is wider than a conventional iPhone, while opening it produces a much larger display without the device looking like a traditional tablet.
Mrwhosetheboss Tests The Foldable Experience
Mrwhosetheboss has already published both a hands-on video examining the iPhone Duo and iPhone 18 Pro.
The longer video goes beyond showing the hardware, giving a better impression of how Apple has approached the foldable experience. The Duo’s hinge, two displays and software all work together to make the transition between phone and larger-screen modes feel more deliberate.
The Crease Is Harder To Notice Than Expected
The inner display is one of the biggest points of interest in the first wave of videos. Apple uses a nano-texture finish on the foldable screen to reduce reflections and make the crease less noticeable.
The crease has not disappeared, but the first footage suggests it is difficult to see from many angles. The matte surface also changes the appearance of the inner screen compared with the glossy displays found on many other foldables.
The hinge is getting attention too. The Duo can stay partially folded, allowing it to be used in different positions rather than simply being open or closed. Apple’s software responds to those positions, moving controls and adjusting the interface around the fold.
iOS 27 Makes The Larger Screen Useful
The biggest difference between the Duo and a conventional iPhone becomes apparent once the device is open. iOS 27 can display two apps side by side, while supported apps can take advantage of the 7.6-inch screen for a more spacious interface.
The Duo can also be propped up for video calls, photography and media playback. StandBy can run while the phone is folded into a tent position, turning the Duo into a small display for widgets, music, calendars and other information.
The camera system takes advantage of the foldable design as well. The Duo can sit on its own for photos and video, while the outer display can show a preview to the person being photographed.

The first creator coverage is still expanding, but the videos already provide a much better idea of what Apple’s foldable looks and feels like outside the company’s controlled demonstrations.
