The Logic Pro assistant is a new beta feature in Logic Pro for Mac that can start a song or set up a vocal track from a single prompt. It arrived on today with the Apple Creator Studio update and needs macOS 27 Golden Gate. The assistant runs on a combination of Apple-built models and OpenAI.
The Logic Pro Assistant Needs macOS 27 and a US English Mac
The assistant requires macOS 27 Golden Gate or later on a Mac that supports Apple Intelligence. It works in US English only, and it is labeled beta.
That is a higher bar than the app itself. Logic Pro currently requires macOS 15.6 or later and a Mac with Apple silicon, so a Mac that runs Logic Pro today will not automatically get the assistant. The Apple Creator Studio update reaches existing subscribers for free in November.
It Is Built for Setup, Navigation, and Refining Projects
Apple describes four jobs for the assistant:
- Navigating Logic Pro production workflows.
- Starting a new song.
- Setting up a vocal track from a single prompt.
- Refining a project you already have open.
The vocal track example is the most concrete one. Setting up a vocal chain by hand means creating the track, choosing inputs, adding plug-ins and balancing levels. That is a lot of menu work before you record a single take, and one prompt that handles it is the shortcut a newer producer will notice first.
The assistant joins a set of machine learning tools Logic Pro already has. Session Players and Stem Splitter arrived earlier, and the app also includes Mastering Assistant, Chord ID and Smart Tempo. Stem Splitter separates drums, bass, vocals, guitar, piano and other instruments from a recording.
Apple has also bought assets from the audio startup Samplab, which I covered when Apple acquired the AI audio editing startup. Apple has not said where that technology will end up.
Logic Pro Costs $199.99 or Comes With Apple Creator Studio
The assistant ships as part of Apple Creator Studio. It is not clear yet whether the one-time purchase of Logic Pro for Mac from the App Store includes it, and that purchase costs $199.99. I would treat the assistant as a subscriber feature until Apple says otherwise.
The rest of the update brings Generate Fill and new assistants to Keynote, Pages and Numbers, which I broke down in my Apple Creator Studio update article. Apple Creator Studio costs $12.99 per month or $129 per year after a one-month free trial.
