Apple Creator Studio Gets Generate Fill and AI Assistants

The Apple Creator Studio update coming this November adds Generate Fill to Pixelmator Pro, built-in MotionVFX effects to Final Cut Pro for Mac, and AI assistants to Logic Pro, Keynote, Pages, and Numbers. The new assistants are in beta and need macOS 27 Golden Gate, iOS 27, or iPadOS 27.

Apple detailed the changes in a press release today. Existing subscribers get the update free on the App Store in November, and new subscribers pay $12.99 per month or $129 per year after a one-month free trial. It follows the September update that added Cinematic mode editing for iPhone 18 Pro video and the June update that brought AI captions.

The New AI Assistants Are in Beta and Limited to US English

Logic Pro for Mac gets an assistant that can start a new song, set up a vocal track from a single prompt, or refine a project you already have open. It runs on a combination of Apple-built models and OpenAI. The beta needs macOS 27 Golden Gate on an Apple Intelligence-capable Mac and works in US English only.

Keynote, Pages, and Numbers get a separate assistant, built on Apple models and OpenAI, that reads the document you have open. It requires an Apple Intelligence-capable device running iOS 27, iPadOS 27, or macOS 27 Golden Gate, and it is a US English beta too. Each app gets a different set of jobs, and the assistant is a subscriber feature while the apps themselves stay free.

  • Keynote helps design, animate, and refine slides.
  • Pages drafts, restructures, and fine-tunes written content.
  • Numbers calculates, visualizes, and organizes data, recommends chart types with a one-tap preview, and builds custom tables using world knowledge.

Model Context Protocol (MCP) support opens all three apps to outside tools. On macOS 27 Golden Gate, external AI agents can read content, make edits, and run automated actions directly in Keynote, Pages, and Numbers. Keynote also adds support for Keynote Interchange Format (.keyx), an open JSON-based bundle file that external tools, developer workflows, and AI agents can read.

Generate Fill and MotionVFX Headline the Creative App Upgrades

Pixelmator Pro adds Generate Fill, which edits part of an image from a text description. Circle an area and describe the change you want, or use Free Selection, Quick Selection, or Magnetic Selection for a tighter mask. Apple says the result matches the lighting, perspective, and texture of the surrounding scene.

A built-in Super Resolution pass keeps generated content sharp at any size. Generated elements can merge into an existing layer or arrive as a new layer with intelligent masking, so you can keep refining them.

Final Cut Pro for Mac now includes MotionVFX, a collection of thousands of elements that covers templates, graphics, titles, transitions, and tools for rotoscoping, tracking, and color grading. Motion adds a built-in set of MotionVFX plug-ins for cinematic color grading, 3D camera tracking, and one-click selection. The Content Hub, Apple’s curated library of stock assets, now includes video and is available directly inside Final Cut Pro.

Editors can open any image from a Final Cut Pro timeline in Pixelmator Pro, and the edits save back to the project automatically with no reimporting. Final Cut Pro, which already had Image Playground integration, can now generate images from text descriptions inside a project. Motion has the same text-to-image tools and the same round trip with Pixelmator Pro.

Final Cut Pro adds more keyframe easing options, the ability to disconnect clips from the primary storyline and place them anywhere on the timeline, and 23 new transcription languages. Motion takes the same keyframe easing options, a new Displacement filter, and an interactive demo project. Compressor can now encode Cinematic mode video recorded on iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone Duo.

Logic Pro for Mac gets a redesigned Browser that centralizes loops, instruments, and effect patches. An on-device audio analysis tool called music understanding classifies and tags added sounds, so you can search your whole collection or drag in a loop to surface matching audio.

Stem Splitter can now separate drums, which lets you isolate, replace, or rebalance drum parts without the original multitracks. Logic Pro for Mac and iPad get a Liquid Glass redesign, and a new Producer Pack from 20-time Grammy winner Sergio George adds his signature piano sound and salsa and Latin jazz loops. Voice Memo Studio Sound reduces room ambience and background noise in recordings from supported iPhone models, and you can keep fine-tuning them in Logic Pro.

The Apple Creator Studio Update Is Free for Existing Subscribers

The update reaches existing subscribers through the App Store in November at no extra cost. New subscribers pay $12.99 per month or $129 per year, and anyone who buys a new Mac or qualifying iPad can get three months free. Up to six family members can share the apps and content through Family Sharing.

College students and educators can get a limited-time rate of $2.99 per month or $29.99 per year after verification. Keynote, Pages, Numbers, and Freeform stay free on every new iPhone, Mac, and iPad, and the subscription adds premium content on top.

The Content Hub in Keynote, Pages, and Numbers now includes Apple-curated stock video, and subscribers get new themes and templates. Freeform gets text styles and board background colors, and in December it adds Pixelmator Pro image editing and editable shapes generated from text descriptions. Apple keeps one-time purchase versions of the Mac apps on the Mac App Store at the prices below.

  • Final Cut Pro costs $299.99.
  • Logic Pro costs $199.99.
  • Pixelmator Pro, Motion, and Compressor cost $49.99 each.
  • MainStage costs $29.99.

Our Take

I think Generate Fill and MotionVFX are the reasons to stay subscribed, since $129 a year costs less than half the $299.99 one-time price of Final Cut Pro alone. The assistants are the part I would wait on because they are in beta and only work in US English. The assistants also need Apple Intelligence-capable hardware. If you want the Logic Pro assistant or the MCP support in Keynote, Pages, and Numbers, update your Mac to macOS 27 Golden Gate first, because both require it.
