Pre-Orders Open on October 28 at apple.com and in the Apple Store App

Pre-orders start at 10:10 a.m. PT on October 28, which is 1:10 p.m. ET. I would have the Apple Store app open and signed in by then. Apple offers two-hour delivery in most metros for $9, free shipping and pickup at an Apple Store, and every customer who buys directly from Apple gets access to Personal Setup, a guided online session with a Specialist.

Choose Between the 10-Core and 12-Core iMac with M6 Before You Order

The iMac with M6 comes in blue, green, pink, yellow, purple, orange and silver. The 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU model costs $1,499, or $1,449 with education pricing, and the 12-core CPU and 12-core GPU model costs $1,699, or $1,599.

The extra $200 buys two more Thunderbolt 4 ports, support for a second external display, 2.5Gb Ethernet as standard, a nano-texture glass option and a Magic Keyboard with Touch ID as standard. The 10-core model ships without an Ethernet port and adds 2.5Gb Ethernet for $30, and it can be configured with the Touch ID and numeric keypad keyboard. Our iMac with M6 vs iMac with M4 comparison covers every difference.

Pick a Payment Option Before Checkout

US customers who pay with Apple Card can choose Apple Card Monthly Installments at 0 percent APR, with 3 percent Daily Cash back. Apple’s buy page shows the $1,499 model at $124.91 a month for 12 months. Apple Upgrade leases the $1,499 model from $28.99 a month for 36 months, before taxes and any trade-in credit.

Apple Trade In gives credit toward a new Mac after Apple raised iPad and Mac trade-in values. Year-round education pricing covers current and newly accepted college students and educators, and AppleCare+ covers accidents, battery replacement and priority support.

The order comes together in five choices, and it helps to settle each one before pre-orders open.

  1. Pick a color from the seven on offer.
  2. Choose the 10-core or 12-core model.
  3. Choose a mouse or a trackpad, and the keyboard.
  4. Pick memory and storage, then add nano-texture glass on the 12-core model or the $30 2.5Gb Ethernet port on the 10-core model.
  5. Choose how to pay, whether to trade in a Mac and whether to add AppleCare+.

The model decides which options you can add, so choose it first. The iMac with M6 begins arriving on Friday, November 6.
