MLB iPhone App Expands Live Activities and CarPlay

The MLB app for iPhone is getting a useful update for baseball fans, with expanded Live Activities and a refreshed CarPlay experience.

The update makes it easier to follow games from the Lock Screen, Dynamic Island, and the car’s dashboard. The biggest change is that fans can now start a Live Activity for any game on the schedule, rather than being limited to their favorite team.

MLB Live Activities Can Now Track Any Game

The MLB app now lets users start a Live Activity for any game listed on the schedule.

Previously, the feature was limited to games involving a user’s favorite team. With the latest update, users can open Gameday for a matchup and tap the new Track button in the header.

The game will then appear on the iPhone Lock Screen and Dynamic Island, allowing fans to keep up with the score and other updates without repeatedly opening the MLB app.

This is especially useful on busy game days when fans want to follow multiple matchups at the same time.

MLB Brings More Features to CarPlay

The MLB app is also improving its CarPlay experience, giving fans more ways to follow games while on the road.

Users can browse live and upcoming games, select a matchup, and choose their preferred team’s radio broadcast. CarPlay displays the score and key game information while the broadcast plays.

The app also respects the Hide Scores setting. Fans who want to listen to a game without seeing spoilers can continue hiding scores while using CarPlay.

More MLB Features Are Coming to Apple Devices

The update follows several other improvements to the MLB app across Apple’s platforms.

Earlier this summer, MLB expanded its real-time scores widget for iPhone and iPad, giving fans another way to follow games without opening the app.

Apple is also bringing MLB content to Apple Vision Pro. Later this month, users will be able to experience the first Friday Night Baseball game in Apple Immersive Video on Apple TV.
