Apple’s rumored iPhone Ultra could feature a major change to the way its front cameras are positioned. A new leak suggests the foldable iPhone may place its front-facing cameras in the corners of both displays rather than using the traditional top-center placement.
The leak comes from a third-party screen protector, so the design is not confirmed. Still, the accessory appears to provide a specific look at how Apple could position cameras on its first foldable iPhone.
A Leak Suggests Two Different Camera Positions
The iPhone Ultra is expected to be Apple’s first foldable iPhone, with a smaller outer display and a larger inner display that becomes available when the device is unfolded.
Rumors have pointed to two rear cameras, including Main and Ultra Wide cameras, along with two front-facing cameras. Each display would have its own front camera, allowing users to take selfies and make video calls whether the iPhone is folded or unfolded.
Until now, the expectation has been that the outer display’s camera would sit near the top center, similar to Apple’s existing iPhone designs. A newly leaked screen protector suggests Apple could take a different approach.
The accessory appears to show a camera cutout in the top-right corner of the outer display and another in the top-left corner of the inner display.
If accurate, both front cameras would sit away from the center of their respective screens.
The Inner Camera Could Make Sense for a Foldable
The positioning of the inner display’s camera would be relatively easy to explain. A foldable iPhone needs to accommodate its hinge and other components around the area where the display bends, making the center of the screen a less practical location for a camera.
Apple could therefore place the inner camera toward the edge of the display to avoid interfering with the folding mechanism.
The outer camera is more interesting because Apple has consistently positioned its front-facing camera near the top center of the iPhone. That placement has remained familiar through the transition from the notch to the Dynamic Island.
Moving it to the top-right corner would represent a noticeable change for iPhone users.
Corner Camera Placement Could Change Selfies and Video Calls
An off-center front camera could take some getting used to. When taking a selfie, users typically look toward the center of the display while the camera sits nearby. Moving the camera to a corner could make it harder to maintain eye contact during video calls or capture naturally framed group selfies.
The effect may be less noticeable when using the outer display, especially if that screen is the primary one used for quick photos. The inner camera may also see less use because users could simply fold the phone and use the outer camera instead.
Still, the placement could affect how Apple designs the camera interface and how users frame themselves on the larger inner screen.
The Leak Is Not Yet Confirmed
There is an important caveat: the camera positions come from a third-party screen protector, not an official Apple source.
Accessory makers can receive information about upcoming devices, but they can also work from early specifications or make educated guesses. A cutout shown on a screen protector therefore does not guarantee that the final iPhone Ultra will use the same layout.
For now, the leaked accessory is best treated as an indication of a possible design rather than confirmation of Apple’s plans.
The iPhone Ultra is expected to debut next month as Apple’s first foldable iPhone. If the leaked screen protector is accurate, its corner-mounted front cameras could become one of the device’s most visible departures from Apple’s conventional iPhone design.
