Shazam today rolled out its first Artist Sticker Pack, a free addition tied to the global release of Ariana Grande’s new album petal. The stickers arrive with app update 26.14.1. The pack draws on petal‘s visual identity and lets fans send themed stickers through iMessage, FaceTime, and any app that supports the iOS emoji keyboard. Shazaming any Ariana Grande song surfaces a prompt directing users to the pack, connecting music discovery to fan-sharing in a way that fits how the app already works.
How to find and send the stickers
When you open the updated Shazam app, you will see a notification which mentions the new album from Ariana Grande. When you tap it to open the web page, it has a call to action to get to the new sticker pack however, it does not really work well in practice.
To access the pack in Messages, open a conversation and follow these steps:
- Tap the + button in the conversation toolbar
- Select Stickers
- Tap the Shazam icon
- Tap any sticker to send it
The same stickers are available in FaceTime and anywhere else the iOS emoji keyboard appears.
Shazam moves past pure song identification
Petal dropped today, a 13-track, 36-minute record, and the sticker launch makes Shazam an active part of Grande’s rollout rather than a passive discovery tool. The move also marks a clear directional shift for the Apple-owned app. Since Apple acquired Shazam in 2018, it has pulled the app deeper into the iOS ecosystem; this launch pushes it further still, into social territory, making it a vehicle for artist-to-fan engagement inside messaging apps. That is a different job from identifying a song in a coffee shop.
Whether Apple plans to extend sticker collaborations to other artists is not yet clear, but the infrastructure is now in place. Debuting with one of the most-streamed pop artists in the world is a deliberate way to test whether fans will actually use the feature, and the in-app discovery prompt gives the pack an organic distribution channel that a standalone sticker app would not have.
