Snapchat Inc. has kicked off 2022 with a set of new features to reply in group chats, conduct opinion polls, and more on iOS. The company has been working to compete with the popular video recording app, TikTok.
Previously for iOS, the company launched its new “Story Studio” app to record and create entertaining verticle videos. The app is a TikTok clone, which allows users to record, and edit videos for mobile and directly share them on Snap Stories or on Spotlight. Snapchat also launched new Spotlight Challenges offering up to $25,000 in cash prize to increase engagement on its platform.
Snapchat adds new Bitmoji reactions, chat reply and other expressive features on iOS and Android
As per the announcement, the new features will make Snapchat messaging more fun and expressive with friends across iOS and Android devices. Here are all the new messaging features you can enjoy:
- New ‘Chat Reply’ to create a thread in group chats: Users can now create chat threads in group chats to respond to individual messages. The new ‘Chat Replies’ allows users to keep conversations on track by simply holding down on a message and tapping ‘Reply’ to start a thread.
- Express feelings with new ‘Bitmoji Reactions’: There are seven new Bitmoji reactions to express emotions and react to any message.
- New Emoji-powered Polls: To make surveys more fun, Snapchat has added visual Polls. “Our Polls were designed with transparency in mind–you can see how your friends voted to help ensure responses stay thoughtful and kind. To create a Poll, check out the new option in the Sticker folder.”
- Improved audio and video calling: The updated calling interface allows users to easily add Lenses and see which participants have answered a group call before joining.
