Snapchat Inc. has announced a new reward program “Spotlight Challenges” as an opportunity for creators to win cash prizes by producing top-performing Spotlight Snaps. The new challenges will be based on specific #topics, lenses, or sounds, and the Snapchatters who demonstrate the best use of their talent will be the challenges champions. However, the new reward program will launch in November in the United States and will be available in other regions in the following months.
Snapchat launched the Spotlight section on the app in November 2020 which houses the most entertaining snaps on the platform and to encourage creators to submit their videos to Spotlight, the company announced a $1 million reward to share among creators. The measure was seen as an attempt to compete with popular Chinese video-sharing app TikTok which has become the first non-facebook app to hit 3 billion downloads.

Like TikTok, Snapchat will award creators prize money for their videos via the new Spotlight Challenges. Each challenge will offer a cash prize from $1k to $25k which will be shared by the winning Snapchatters. A Snapchatter can win a $250 minimum pize for each challenge. To enter the Spotlight challenges, the participant must be 16 years or older and a U.S resident.
How to enter and win Spotlight Challenges
To enter the Spotlight challenges, the participant must be 16 years or older and a U.S resident and follow the below-mentioned steps:
- Open the Trending page in the Spotlight section of the app.
- Select the challenge you wish to participate in and access all the necessary information regarding that challenge.
- Tap on the camera to create and submit.
The top 50 most viewed submissions will be judged on “Creativity & Originality, Innovative use of Snap Creative Tools, Unique POV, and Entertainment Value” and 3 to 5 winners will be selected for each challenge.
Spotlight Challenges will offer Snapchatters the chance to win cash prizes for creating top-performing Spotlight Snaps using specific Lenses, Sounds, or #Topics. Whether it be your best trick shot or your funniest impression, these challenges champion Snapchatters to create Snaps that highlight their unique voice, perspective, personality and creativity.
