iOS 27 introduces Siri AI (Beta), but Apple still allows users to switch back to Siri Classic. The option is not available as a simple toggle, however, and requires turning Siri off before setting it up again.
During the Siri setup process, iOS 27 gives you the option to select Siri Classic instead of the newer Siri AI experience. Here is how to switch back.
How to Switch Back to Siri Classic
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
- Scroll down and tap Siri. On some devices, this may appear as Apple Intelligence & Siri.
- Scroll down and tap Turn Off Siri.
- Tap Turn Off Siri again to confirm.
- Scroll back to the top and tap Turn on Siri.
- Select Siri Classic when prompted.

- Tap Continue to complete the setup.
Your iPhone will now use Siri Classic instead of Siri AI.
What Changes When You Switch to Siri Classic
Switching to Siri Classic changes the Siri experience, but it does not disable Apple Intelligence across your iPhone.
Other Apple Intelligence features can continue to work independently, including Notification Summaries, Mail summaries, Writing Tools, and image creation. These features have their own controls in iOS 27 and must be disabled separately.
Can You Switch Back to Siri AI?
Yes. You can change the Siri experience again if you decide to return to Siri AI. Go through the Siri setup process and select the newer Siri experience when the option appears.
Siri AI is available in beta on iOS 27 and requires an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone with Siri and the device language set to a supported language. Apple says Siri AI is available in English to start, while availability can vary by region.
Does Siri Classic Disable Apple Intelligence?
No. Siri Classic only changes the version of Siri used on the iPhone.
Apple Intelligence features outside Siri remain controlled separately. If you want to reduce or disable Apple Intelligence features across iOS 27, you can turn off individual options such as notification summaries, Mail summaries, Writing Tools, and image creation. Learn how to do that here.
